The line is closed anyway today for engineering work north of Newcastle but check before travel tomorrow, as there may be no LNER/Lumo/Cross Country/Transpennine services between Edinburgh and Newcastle.
You may have to divert via the West Coast Main Line, resulting in very busy trains.
The reason is that Northern are advising that a railway viaduct at Cramlington (between Newcastle and Morpeth) was damaged in the storm yesterday. Northern are running road replacement services today with limited capacity, from Morpeth to Newcastle.
Network Rail engineers have attended and significant repair work is required before trains will be permitted to operate over the affected area. (last NR update at 0736 this morning)
