We have an early Monday morning flight from Gatwick and need to be at the airport by 5am. Our hotel is near Victoria station. Looks like the Gatwick Express starts too late for us (correct me if I’m wrong). Any tips on the best mode of transportation to the airport? Thank you!
I haven't used a car service to or from any London airports, but other members of this forum have. Blackberry Cars is one of those companies which has had good reviews. Seems like a private car service is your best bet.
National Express https://www.nationalexpress.com/en runs coach (bus) services from Victoria Coach Station with departures through the night.
I had the same scenario last month. I ended up using Uber and had no problems.
Can you arrange to stay the night before at the airport? There are several.
Another alternative is a taxi/minicab to Blackfriars or if on a night when the tube is running to St Pancras where trains run through the night.
Hello , last month we used this taxi service 44 7446 259153 (I don't have the name, just the phone number), on a very similar route.
One of my travel companions forgot her phone in the taxi and the people in this company did everything possible so she could get it back. They really went out of their way to help her.
We offered to deposit something as a "thank you" gesture and because it was the proper thing to do due to all the help they offered (long story) and they very gracefully declined it.
They said something like, " we want that everytime you think about your time in my city , London you remember that people here tried to help you"
Beside that, their taxi service was excellent .
I would try to reccomend them every time I can.
"Car hire."????
That would be the worse option.
To second what Nigel said, I would consider staying your last night at a hotel at or near Gatwick Airport.

It seems that a stay at this hotel would be hassle-free for an early departure:
From their website:
"You’ll find YOTELAIR located handily in the arrivals hall of South Terminal (before security), close to the free shuttle connecting South Terminal to North Terminal."

Are you sure the Gatwick Express won’t work for you? This schedule shows the first train at 4:30 am arriving at 5:12 am. What time is your flight?
Are you taking the 555AM ( 6AM some days) easyjet to AMS? Easyjet closes boarding 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure. If so, arriving at the airport at 5AM may not be early enough.

If you are taking a flight that leaves after 7AM, your 5AM arrival will be good.
