I want to make sure I'm correct in my reading of the TFL website that to go from Earls Court to Watford Junction - take the Piccadilly Line to Green Park, change to the Victoria Line to Euston, then catch a London Midland train to Watford Junction, and the off-peak Oyster Card fare will be £6 per person for the entire journey?
The above is correct, although there is an alternative cheaper route via West Brompton (£2.70 according to TfL). One service an hour is even quicker this way, although in all the services are less frequent. If travelling the one stop on the District Line from Earls Court, don't forget to touch on the pink Oyster validator on the platform otherwise you would be charged the more expensive fare via Zone 1. It may be as convenient to start at West Brompton.
Thanks Marco.
So if I start at West Brompton, I would be taking the Southern Rail Service the whole way? How far of a walk is it from Earls Court to West Brompton? And finally, do I catch the Southern Train adjacent to the Underground station?
West Brompton is both a rail and underground train so it is just a change of platform. There are 4 services an hour that go to Watford Junction; the direct Southern one at XX:47, weekdays and the Overground which requires a change at Willesdon Junction.
West Brompton station is on the Old Brompton Road / Lillie Road, behind the back of Earls Court Exhibition Centre. You can if you wish take the one stop journey from Earls Court underground station at no additional charge, since this is considered to be in Zone 2 as well as Zone 1.
Thank you. This certainly sounds easier, quicker, and cheaper than what I initially found on the TFL site. I won't be heading to Watford Junction until the beginning of October, and I'll be sure and check for any service disruptions beforehand. It's nice to know there are a few options.
I sure hope Harry Potter is worth it for us older muggles!
I often see people, children and people, of all ages and from various countries, right after they have come out of the HP thing. I have never seen a frownie. All seem to have enjoyed themselves, and some will chat to me - universally pleased.
