We are doing a 2 month in Europe and have been to England many times but we are going to be staying in Durham with a car for 3 nights. We plan to check out Durham, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Hadrian's Wall. My question is what would be the best place for viewing walking Hadrian's Wall from Durham as a possible day trip or half day? Any suggestions. Thanks
You need to head to Once Brewed and park at Steel Rigg - it'l take about an hour from Durham.
You may find this article in the NYT about that part of the world of interest

Also some info about the vastly under appreciated Newcastle upon Tyne

If you have time, Beamish Museum is worth a visit.
Just a note that this eastern portion of Hadrian's Wall is awe-inspiring. Have fun!
