Hello! We are planning a 10-day trip in June. We fly into Dublin, but would love to visit London for a few days. Is flying the best way to get there? Any recommendations or advice on the airline and day of week to do this?
We were hoping that we'd tour London and make a visit to Stonehenge before returning to Dublin.
Thank you!
Fly, unless you want a long rail journey from North Wales to South East England. As for which service, I would go with the cheapest and most convenient time. It’s an hour flight. You will need to get ETAs attached to your passport. Only do this via the UK Gov website site unless you are a fan of burning money.
Thank you! Great tips!
Yep, fly. Ryanair or EasyJet will likely cheapest, but factor in that they fly in and out of airports that are further from the city center so keep that in mind for ground transportation costs and time getting to/from. Also pay close attention to the luggage allowance, as the low cost carriers are strict about size and dimensions. Otherwise, major carriers like BA and Aer Lingus might be your best bet.
We flew Aer Lingus from Cork to London and then London to Dublin. As very smooth and easy. We even were given an upgrade on one of the flights for some reason. We looked at Ryanair and Easyjet but were concerned about luggage restrictions.
FYI, easyJet does not fly anywhere within the Republic of Ireland. For a low cost carrier to the UK it’s RyanAir. They fly from the main (only?) airport in Dublin. In London their main airport is Stansted but they also fly to Luton and Gatwick. All of these have easy options into central London.
