Would like recommendations on hiring a driver to drive my wife and I from London to see Cotswolds and possibly Oxford.
Cotswolds is a large area.
Have you researched where you might like to go?
FYI its an easy 1 hour train ride from London’s Paddington Station to Oxford. Easy day trip.
You can easily do Oxford on the train from London.
A private driver for a day is likely to be very expensive. Go Cotswold do a day trip of the Cotswolds starting from Morton in the Marsh. You can get to Morton in the Marsh by train from London or from Oxford.
The year I went to the Cotswolds, I spent at least 3 nights in Oxford. On one of those days I took the aforementioned GoCotswolds tour. It was easy to take the train from Oxford to Moreton-in- Marsh. The GoCotswolds van picked me up right at the train station. I though the tour was very good. It gave me some time in a bunch of different villages and allowed me to see some lovely scenery. A private driver would have been much more expensive, but that would have allowed me to decide exactly how much time to spend in each little village.
What are your goals? How much time do you want to spend in the Cotswolds? Where? Oxford? Combining the Cotswolds and Oxford in a day would be difficult and unnecessary if you have time to do both. Canned tours are just that. They say where, when, how long and how much. If that’s ok with you, great. If not, hire a driver. Although we day-tripped from Bath, not London, I don’t regret hiring a driver/informal guide. It was about 100 pounds more than a canned tour, yes, but in my book, totally worth it. We had the final say over every aspect of the day.
