I can’t think of anything worse!
Oh, my. I am thinking of how much this will cost the lucky winners. First, the cost to get to and from Highclere. Then think of the clothes you will need , right down to new night clothes and underwear, because you mustn't shock the servants who will attend you with your ordinary underclothing. No doubt the dinner will be quite formal, with servants in attendance, so just the right “dressy” look will be necessary for that, plus something nice to wear at tea time as well. Not a “carry on” situation, I fear.
So, time to drag out the steamer trunk and fill it with your tuxedos and evening gowns?
Well heck, if you've got the moola it might be fun. No?
Interesting, to be sure ....... but fun?
Pretty much my worst nightmare, but I can see that it would appeal to a lot of folks.
I would do it in a minute!!! 😊
There goes the neighborhood.
The cynic in me guesses this is a loss leader for the Carnarvons' future airbnb offering(s). Now that the TV and movie stuff is done, they still have to pay for the place.
But the lucky couple should have fun, even without clean underwear. ;-)
The listing on Airbnb is worth a read, it seems odd and a bit funny to see things like sheets and towels listed out...but wait! There’s no WIFI included.😱
It includes dinner with the Lord and Lady!
Agree with Dick's post........otherwise why in the world would the offering be priced SOOOO low? $160 something for the night, including breakfast and a private dinner, tour, etc. Yep, it's total promotion.
And, no need for a steamer trunk -- it's a one-night stay. Guesting the hosts would prefer to not have to put on a tux and gown themselves.
If anyone on the Forum wins the booking right, I would suggest to still pack lightly. The little wrinkle-resistant black dress and pearls should do fine, along with black ballet flats. What did we learn growing up? The best accessories are grace and a nice smile :)
and we are playing right into their hands
