Dover and Canterbury Day trip from London

asking the forum if this is OK idea or too ambitious -

day trip from London to see Dover Castle (both WW2 tours) and then White Cliff walk... grab takeaway or quick lunch then train/bus to Canterbury to see high street, Cathedral and evening song - real dinner in Canterbury or quick one to eat on train back to London - is this too much for one day trip from London - worried that the White Cliff walk will be cut short and want to have a good experience there

Too much for one day. Dover Castle can take up much of the day. There is hundreds of years of history there and not just WWII. Canterbury is worth more time.

Frank is correct - they are separate day trips as there is much to see in both places.

I took a day trip to Dover Castle. I enjoyed seeing it and the war tunnels. There really wouldn’t have been time for a great deal more.

Yes, too much for one day.
Dover Castle is a bit more than WW2, there is a Roman lighthouse there! (photo). Most of the castle dates 1179 to 1188. There is not much else to see in Dover, and it is a long hike from the station to the castle. If you add in a cliff walk, that is a full day.
Frequent trains London - Dover, Dover - Canterbury and Canterbury - London.
Canterbury has lots to see, also a full day.
