DoubleTree by Hilton London Kensington

Has anyone stayed at this hotel recently? Have Rick’s book. Thinking about using points on this trip. I would appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Have stayed at this hotel last spring when we were in London. My experience was that it was the worst place we've ever stayed in London. If I went into all the details of things that were wrong with the place, I'd be here about an hour and would be writing about 12 long paragraphs.
My husband and I refer to this hotel as "the Bad Hotel". When we talk about our trip to London, we say, "Oh we went there the day after we checked out of the Bad Hotel".
It is not worth it to stay at this hotel just to use your points. Choose any other Doubletree or Hilton in London, and it will be better than this one in my opinion.

If you want to be in this area, do choose a different hotel. There are some nice ones in the area.

I suggest instead a very nice hotel in Kensington, The Rembrandt Hotel, 11 Thurloe Place, Kensington, London SW7 2RS, UK

If you are specifically looking for something in the Hilton chain to use points, look at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel London Hyde Park. 150 Bayswater Road. Not far from Paddington Station, directly overlooking Hyde Park. Lots of good pubs and restaurants in the area.

The Waldorf Hilton, Aldwych. Great location. 7-minute walk from Covent Garden tube station and a 12-minute walk from the British Museum. The theatre district is to the west of this hotel, a close walk. The Piccadilly tube line that comes in from Heathrow airport stops at Covent Garden tube station, just a 3-4 block walk from the hotel.

The Hilton London Paddington is connected to Paddington Station, and the location can't be beat for arriving and departing to and from Heathrow. 146 Praed St, Paddington, London. Good tube and bus connections from here all over town.

If you want more suggestions, please say whether you want more Hilton suggestions, or more suggestions for Kensington/South Kensington area.

My husband and I stayed once at the Doubletree, but in Westminister. It is very close to Parliament. The last time we decided to go up a notch and stay at the Conrad Hilton St James. It is directly across the street from the St. James Tube station. We are again staying there in May. We have also stayed at the Crowne Plaza in South Kensington, on Cromwell. We actually stayed there three different times. It is right across the street form the Gloucester Tube station. It is a very nice hotel. Both the Crowne Plaza (IHG Hotel Brand - Holiday Inn, InterContinental, etc.) and the Hilton St. James are definitely nicer than the Doubletree's (part of Hilton Hotels).
