Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Strike, London

Members of the RMT Union have announced a strike on the DLR (only) next Tuesday and Wednesday- November 7 and 8.

If it goes ahead it will close the DLR network. All other modes of transport will work as normal but will be busier.

For the visitor this is most likely to affect trips to Greenwich- use Thames Clipper/Uber boats, South Eastern main line services, London Overground, the Elizabeth Line or bus #188 from Central London.

Thanks for the update! We will be in London during this time and have a trip to Greenwich planned. Super helpful having a heads up about this.

It will also affect anyone coming into or out of LCY airport. You can get pretty close by taking the Elizabeth Line to Custom House but you will need a bus or taxi after that.

Well it is automated, but every train has to have a Passenger Service Agent (originally Train Captain) on board, to be able to manually drive the train if there are problems, operate the doors, and for general passenger security.
