Do they check age ID for family admissions at key attractions?

In looking at tour prices for many key attractions like Tower of London, the Ho-Ho buses, Hampton Court, etc, I see that there are often family admission rates. My son looks older than 15. Do they generally ask for ID to verify these family rates? I don't really want to carry our passports or his health card with us everywhere if I can avoid it.

The possibility of ID being checked at attractions in Europe are as likely as they are where ever you live.

I would carry your passports for two reasons. The first is security. I feel your passport is safer with you, rather than at a hotel. The second is that in many countries the police can stop you and ask for ID.

I know there are people who will disagree with my approach, but it has worked for us in over thirty years of travel.

Enjoy your trip. Your son is fortunate to be part of such a great family vacations.

Why not buy the tickets on line before you leave or book online and use the hotel to print? I doubt they are going to check. However one should always carry some type of ID with you when you are out and about in case something happens.

I’ve never had them check but my kids are younger, clearly under the age limit.

For this purpose a color copy of your passports might suffice. Obviously this is not official ID for the police etc but for a museum/attraction to verify age it should work.

On the railway a child ticket will be age checked if they look obviously older.

In your thirty years of travel how many times have you been stopped by the police asking to see your passport?
