Disruption on all trains to Cornwall and South Devon at Dawlish

Due to a storm this weekend the railway sea wall at Dawlish in Devon has again been damaged.

The extent of the damage needs to be assessed, but is reported to be potentially serious.

For the near future trains are suspended between Plymouth (Cross Country) or Newton Abbott (GWR) and Exeter with a restricted Railway Replacement bus service filling the gap- extra vehicles are being recruited subject to availability.

It is likely that the GWR Sleeper service will be suspended throughout.

Train tickets can also be used on these local bus routes-
2 Exeter (Bus Station), Starcross (Station), Dawlish Warren (Stops on A379), Dawlish (The Green), Teignmouth, Newton Abbot (Sherborne Road)
7 Exeter (Bus Station), Newton Abbot (Sherborne Road), Totnes (Opposite Royal Seven Stars Hotel)
12 Newton Abbot (Station), Torre (Station), Torquay (Grand Hotel), Paignton (Bus Station)
22 Dawlish Warren (Beach Rd), Dawlish, Teignmouth, Torquay (Strand), Paignton (Bus Station)
80 Plymouth - Paignton via Ivybridge and Totnes
B Marsh Barton (Alphin Brook Rd), Exeter St Thomas (Riverside Leisure Centre), Exeter (High Street), St James Park (Pennsylvania Road), Polsloe Bridge

All tickets for today and tomorrow (Sunday) including train specific Advance Tickets have an easement in place to allow use on any service until the end of service on Monday 26 January.

At least one Cross Country train was damaged on the sea wall before it closed to all traffic, some reports, suggest a GWR unit may also have been damaged.

More details to follow.
