Direct train ride in London?

What is the most direct/most convenient route from (1) London kings cross to Waterloo and (2) Waterloo to Heathrow airport? This is for two separate trips.

Traveling with luggage and a senior (70+) citizen.

Waterloo to Heathrow - take the Northern Line tube to Tottenham Court Road, and then Elizabeth Line to Heathrow.

Is this one trip? If so, can't you just go to Heathrow from Kings Cross? Take the Thameslink train ride Farringdon and change to the Elizabeth Line to Heathrow.

I’d say-

  1. Victoria line to Oxford Circus, change onto the Bakerloo line to Waterloo. This change is very easy, you just have to walk through one short tunnel with no steps.

  2. Jubilee line to Bond St, Elizabeth line to Heathrow. I don’t know how easy or awkward this change is

Journey, Simon is correct in that it would be easier if we had more information.

Are you trying to get to Heathrow from Kings Cross? If so, then follow his directions. If it is two separate trips for some reason, then please tell us and we can give you directions for each one.

For the future, if you need to know how to get between two points in London, you can use the Transport for London journey planner.
https://tfl.gov.uk/

After you search, you can put in options like ”fewest changes”. The journey planner also shows whether you will encounter steps or escalators if you click on the ”view details” and ”accessibility details” for your journey.

As a former city dweller (NYC), I'd observe that rapid transit systems aren't really designed to "avoid" two-seat journeys. Building such a system in a dense, underground city-scape is quite complex and difficult. The objective is more to distribute the total possible stations as widely as possible. As you may know, some of the "connectors" in London are quite long and involved. But there are a few like that in NYC.

Referring to your needs, when we stayed at the Bankside Hilton some years ago, we frequently walked across the bridge to enter the Blackfriars station, because it avoided a change or two for some days. (Current ages 68/73).
