Hello!
Who has been to the Diddly Squat Farm (or Clarkston Farm)? Is it worth the visit?
We'll have to take a 4 1/2 hour train ride one way to see it. Thanks in advance!
I'm sure it would be fun to see, but are you talking about doing this as a day trip? If so, I doubt very much whether it would be worth a 4 1/2 hour train ride.
The only reason I could see for making a trip like that would be if you were planning to combine it with a stay in the Cotswolds. In that case, why not? I'm not familiar with the show but if you enjoy it, I'm sure it would be interesting to visit.
Depends what you think you will see. It's really just a farm shop, cafe and pub.
Definitely not worth the train ride.
4 1/2 hours just to stand in a long queue and pay well over the odds in an otherwise nondescript farm shop? I don't think it's worth the effort. What's drawing you to the place? Is it somewhere you want to go because you've seen it on Clarkson's Farm? Are you hoping to meet Jeremy Clarkson or other members of the series? If it's the latter I have no idea what the likelihood is that you'll meet any of them.
I have not been there.
However, I would not spend 9 hours on a train for a day trip unless it was a once in a lifetime event. And it would still have to be super special. IMO, a farm shop wouldn't cut it.
There are much better choices for a day trip in the country.
A RT of that timeframe just for that is not me.
However almost all the reviews are 5 star.
I'm not a fan of Clarkson, but as an attraction it would probably be a fun visit. Too far if it's a four and half hour journey. Where are you coming from?
4 1/2 minutes would be too far for me. Maybe it’s a decent pub and farm shop but there are many more within 30 minutes of me (and therefore nearer to the pub than the OP is) that will be better.
John you are probably right. I was thinking about my post in relation to the ethics thread... I probably shouldn't recommend people visit Diddly Squat if I stand by my principles lol
The answer is no.
You could visit Mudchute Farm instead.
Train and DLR from London Bridge
Given that I think you are starting from Manchester or Liverpool. before your Isle of Man trip it should only be about 3 hours each way to Oxford or Stratford, then the bus. Still a very, very long way to travel.
If I'm right about your origin point there are farms with children's activities in the North, which would be easier to reach, especially if its all ten (or so) of you.
My husband mentioned visiting Clarkson's Farm and I thought he was joking lol.
We have friends who live very nearby (like, they can see part of the farm from their house), and they say the traffic is a nightmare. The daughter was excitedly telling me she saw Jeremy in a Tesco or something :-)
I wouldn't be against going, but only if we had a day to kill, and it was a weekday. And we were nearby anyway. I can't imagine it's worth a 9-hour journey ... but if it makes you happy, I'd do it. Like you, I'd be interested in hearing from people who have actually gone.
I haven’t been myself but quite a few friends have been. Generally they’ve enjoyed it. There’s not much to it really but it’s part of a nice day out in the Cotswolds and a lot of people really love the show and want to see the pub and shop in real life.
