Decent Day Trip Plan for Birmingham from the Cotswolds?

Goal: Seeing the Victorian Radicals exhibit and the Cathedral in Birmingham

Problem: US driver staying in the Cotswolds near Daylesford wishing to avoid driving anywhere near Birmingham conurbation or a rail station in a town

Solution? Drive from village to Worcester Parkway station — which looks easy to get to — and take the train into Birmingham from there?

Is there any journey less stressful than this?

Train from Moreton-In-Marsh to Worcestershire Parkway maybe? Don’t get confused with Worcester Park station (in SW London)

Worcestershire Parkway is by far your easiest (and cheapest) option.

As it's name suggests there is a huge car park, one train an hour to Birmingham New Street (from Cardiff) on Cross Country Trains from the low level platforms. The high level platform is served by the train from Moreton in Marsh.

In April, I went to Birmingham to see the Victorian Radicals exhibit and the Cathedral, as I am a Pre-Raphaelite enthusiast. Both the Art Gallery and the Cathedral are a short, pleasant walk from New Street station. The exhibit is fantastic, with many key Pre-Raphaelite paintings. The cathedral has stunning, huge, colorful, recently restored stained glass windows by Edward Burne-Jones, a Birmingham native. Truly gasp-enducing. I only had a few hours to spend in Birmingham, but I plan to return after the Art Gallery is fully re-opened after its restoration.

Thanks so much for all your help. I had looked into taking the train from Moreton-In-Marsh in Marsh, and I’d forgotten why I took against that—maybe it was a big lag time between connections. I’ll bear that in mind.

Really delighted to hear the mini review of the show and stained glass we are going to see—thanks from these PreRaphaelite fans. Did you manage to see the big Burne-Jones exhibit at the Tate in 2018? That was wonderful too.
