dealing with luggage on first day in london

My family and I will be arriving in London (Gatwick) next month on a Thursday morning at around 9am. We're staying in an apartment in Notting hill and we can't get in until 2pm that day. I'm guessing that the earliest we'll be in Notting Hill is 11am (or maybe that's wishful thinking?).

I'd love to have recommendations on what types of activities we can do with our luggage in the Notting Hill area. Perhaps a long lunch and a walk will take up enough time until our 2pm check-in? Or is it worth trying a service such as AirPortr? I read about that here in the forum. Or storing the bags at a left luggage facility?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

There are Excess Baggage Company left luggage offices at both Victoria (if you get a Gatwick Express or Southern train to London) and St Pancras (if you take a Thameslink train to London). The St Pancras area is more interesting than Victoria if you want to spend a while there - the British Library is next door to the station, or the British Museum is one tube stop or a relatively short bus ride away.

Left luggage at Victoria Coach Station is cheaper than at the railway station.
