We are staying at a resort in Watton in the Norfolk region after spending 12 days in Scotland. Want to spend some time in London but not sure day trips are worth the effort. Would anyone have suggestions on getting into London for some sights and getting back? We have a hired car we are planning on returning to Heathrow on the 10th. Would rather take public transportation for most of the trip, certainly don't want to drive in London.
The closest rail stations are Thetford and Norwich, both of which are half an hour’s drive away. Allow time to park, then the services take around 2 hours into King’s Cross and Liverpool Street respectively. Neither of these terminals are likely to be close to the major sights that you may want to visit, so allow 30 minutes + to get there by tube. That’s at least 6 hours of your day in travelling, but if you haven’t been to London before, you may consider a very long day to be worthwhile.
