I saw somewhere in my research there was an anywhere day return weekend ticket in England but forgot to make notes on it. Was it train or coach? Did I need a pass? Clueless. Can anyone help me out?
National Express have a £15 day return nationwide Tuesday to Thursday, for anyone over 60. You need a Coachcard £18 on line, £17 at a coach station. In principle that is anywhere to anywhere. Carlisle to Penzance is I think the furthest possible such journey. The coachcard is valid for a year and gives you 1/3 off at all other times.
Can also be used as a Single, in that case is all NE stops except airports.
Scotrail have a Club 50 scheme (anyone over 50). Normally you get 20% off on line fares, 10% off station purchased fares, in Scotland. Two or three times a year, for a month or so the Club has a £19 (used to be £15) anywhere in Scotland (except Lockerbie and Reston) fare. Annual membership is £15. No UK residency restrictions
You are amazing. Yes that must be where I saw it, when I bought the senior pass. Now to figure how to use it!
To use the Coachcard-
1- Create a free account to avoid the booking fee.
2- Unlike a railcard, you must have the coachcard in hand. If purchased online it has to be mailed to you, hence the higher price.
3- When booking scroll down to 'Do you have a coachcard. Check the Senior Coachcard box.
4- Select the fare type. At payment stage you will be prompted to enter the card number and expiry date.
5- £15 fares must be purchased 3 calendar days (not 72 hours) ahead of travel.
