Dale Chihuly Makes Kew Gardens Even More Magical: Now Through October 27 2019

For those of you traveling to London, just wanted to share that Dale Chihuly, the internationally known glass artist from Washington state in the US is exhibiting at Kew Gardens now through October 27 2019. Here is the link with all the details: https://www.kew.org/kew-gardens/whats-on/chihuly-at-kew-reflections-on-nature.

Kew Gardens is one of my favorite places to visit in London and this art installation looks spectacular. They are also going to have a nightime program in which the art work is illuminated. Unfortunately, I am not planning a trip to London during this time frame, but thought others might be interested.

WOW. now Im really jealous that Dad and my brother are going to London without me! Might have to treat myself to a long weekend if I can find a cheap fare. London is always a temptation ....
thanks for posting this.

Might be in London in a time frame where I could catch this exhibit. I always pay attention to any Chihuly news, as he learned his glassblowing under Harvey Littleton here at the U in Madison, WI.

That is awesome! I just saw his garden and glass house in Seattle. He is amazing. I will definitely try to get to Kew Gardens on our upcoming trip next month. Thanks!

The Chihuly garden installations are fantastic. I went twice to the one at the Denver Botanical Garden, once during the day and once in the evening. They are magical. Wish I had a chance to see the one in Kew Gardens.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but last year the NY Botanical Garden hosted this same exhibit and I was very disappointed by it. It was a cloudy day and the creations don't really stand out unless the lighting is perfect. Couple years before I attended his exhibit in Toronto which was completely indoors at the Royal Ontario Museum. The indoor exhibit was spectacular since every creation was perfectly lit/arranged, and a lot bigger in scale.

Dale Chihuly is a phenomenal artist. I did see this exhibition when it was in the Bronx and LOVED It.

I agree that going on a sunny day would be important--but that would be true for the gardens in general.

Coincidentally, today I received an email about the 2-4-1 offers. Kew is still listed, and I think they now have the summer offers posted (though I have only checked Kew so far).

If concerned about lighting and when to see them best, definitely go at night when they are lit up and it doesn't matter if it's cloudy. That's when I got the best photos when I went in Denver.

Oh - thanks for the heads up - we will be there in early Oct, and tho we just went to Kew last year, I've seen some of his works in other settings - this may be perfect if we need something to fill an afternoon (and I LOVE the gift shop at Kew!)

Sadly won’t be in London but I’d encourage anyone who is to check this out. We toured the Chihuly garden and gallery next to the Space Needle in Seattle last October. It was fantastic, the garden perhaps more so than the gallery.
