An interesting video on London history I found on YouTube, might be interesting for new visitors. It is kinda long though, 42min.
Hope you enjoy :o)

Very interesting, not that I'm a fan of London myself. Definitely viewed from an American perspective (obviously) but at least the narrator didn't call afternoon tea "high" tea. :-)
I did wonder why Sam West, one of our finest actors, cropped up in a small non-speaking role.
It was actually a decent little intro to London. I was glad to see that fish & chips were shown in an actual chip shop, and the pub was shown as a place for drinking - and the two have no connection with each other.
(One of my real peeves with this site is the continued misapprehension that you go to a pub to eat fish & chips.)
That whole Keep Calm & Carry On thing sticks in my gullet though. It was an unused idea fir a wartime poster that got revived recently by makers of tea towels & greetings cards. It is not our national identity, just a commercialised slogan.
Thank you, harleydonski, for pointing out that afternoon tea is not "high" tea. I've lost count of how many sources, including written ones that would have time to check accuracy before publication, make this error.
