Is it easy to get a covid test at Heathrow for returning to the US? Do I need to book it in advance?

The same company has testing centers in town, e.g., Victoria station and Paddington station, so depending on where your hotel is, it may be easier to get it prior to going to the airport. Making an appointment is easy to do and recommended. If you’re a couple or group, you specify that when making the single reservation.
Many Boots also offer testing.
