Cotswolds Trip 3 Days

Hi

My wife and I are planning a trip to London early October and want to spend 3-4 days in the Cotswolds. Can we take the train (what train stations to and from London) and then rent a car, so we can easily get around. What rental agency do you recommend?

What is the most central town to stay in for ease of getting around the Cotswolds?

Thanks in advance for all your expertise.

We did a four week drive tour of England and Wales in 2017 and stayed in Chipping Campden at the Volunteer Inn (I recommend it).

We rented a car at Heathrow went to Bath and Wales before returning to England and the Cotswolds.

We used it as a base to spend two full days touring the Cotswolds as well as doing day trips to Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Stratford Upon Avon.

Traffic in and around London, especially on the orbital (I think it is the M25) was horrible. You might consider renting a car in Oxford, which is not far from the Cotswolds.

I think you can train to Moreton-in-Marsh from Oxford, but not the rest of the Cotswolds villages.

I'd be inclined to catch the train to Oxford and rent a car there. (Although you can catch a train to Morton-in-Marsh, you can't hire a car there....)
