We are so excited to be visiting London!! We are planning our trip and will be in London for 4 days. We are doing all of the touristy things within 3 days. We are trying to decide whether to go to Windsor Castle on the 4th day or whether to go to the Cotswolds. Any advice?
Windsor Castle would work well. Save the Cotswolds for when you can stay there.
The Cotswolds are worth a visit , for obvious reasons, but not for you on this trip .
You probably already know this, but in case you don’t, Windsor Castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We almost made the mistake of planning our visit for a Wednesday. Enjoy your visit.
Windsor Castle can be done in 3 hours, while the Cotswolds will take a day or two.
Do Windsor
Windsor is great but, if you really want to visit a couple small villages you can do it in one day. Take an early train from Paddington Station to Moreton-in-Marsh. You could get the 7:50am train arrive in Moreton at 9:17am. This would give you all day, you could take taxi to Chipping Campden, then one to Bourton-on-the-Water and depending on how much time you spend in a couple of village you could even visit a third one. There are trains back to London, there is one at 5:48pm arriving London 6:27pm, 6:19 arriving London 7:54pm and later ones, so it is doable, it just depends what you want to do.
I would agree with the others. Go to Windsor Castle
Strictly due to the limited time and distance factors, I’d do Windsor.
Folks who know the area have said on the forum that you need to pre-book taxis in the Cotswolds.
