We are considering traveling to London and The Cotswold's in mid Oct this year. Is it still green there or will the trees have dropped their leaves? We are trying to decide either the fall or early May. Any suggestions? thank you Gene
Mid-October is a fine time to visit the Cotswolds. Cooler temperatures and fewer crowds.
Most leaves will be falling/have fallen particularly after this exceptional summer (autumn fruits have been ripening two months early in some cases).
We spent most of October driving around Wales and England and it was a good time to visit the UK. However, late in the month, we were in the Lake District and one day it rained and it was cold and gloomy.
We were in Chipping Campden at the Volunteer Inn for six days (prior to that Bath for three nights then on to Wales, then back to CC).
We were there during the second week of October.
Last time I was in the Cotswolds it was in mid September 2015 and it was still green. Anything could happen by mid October.
In mid October in The Cotswolds, the trees are virtually guaranteed to be in leaf - although with autumn tints. Most leaf fall is about the first week of November in this area. The deciding factor is usually wind strength.
In early May, some trees will still not be in leaf. By mid-May, most trees are in leaf.
Some Autumn links from the internet, all published in September last year:

thanks for your input. It was helpful.
My preference for May walks is the longer daylight hours of late Spring vs. Fall. That said, Contours has five compelling reasons for a Cotswld fall holiday:
