Hello! I am looking for a tour that will pick us up in Oxford and take us around the Costwolds for a few hours for the 4 of us (2 kids 13 and almost 16). I found a 7 hour private driving tour for $468, but no reviews available. It is totally customizable which is nice, and the price isn't bad, but I figured I'd ask if anyone did this and can recommend a tour company. I think someone recommended a place but I can't seem to find the post. This will be at the end of May. Just want to get a taste of the area, so let me know which towns are the best (I've heard Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold mentioned, others?) Thanks!
hey ferrin
was reading about this place when we arrange our london trip. therse are a few sites i have saved that may interest you. some are from oxford and others are a short train ride away to meet at train station.

For seven persons, perhaps you could find some people to join you.
I think you would do much better by renting a car, using a guidebook and do it your self. Rick Steves guide to Great Britain has a recommended self driving tour.
Does it need to be a private tour just for your family or would you be willing to join a small group tour?
If willing to join a small group tour I can highly recommend “Becky’s Secret Cottage Tour”. I took it in June 2017 and it lived up to its excellent reviews.
They don’t pick up in Oxford though; they meet you at the train station in Moreton-in Marsh and they drop you off there st the end; the tour timing is coordinated with the train schedule. It’s an easy direct train from Oxford to M-i-M.
I did the Secret Cottage tour in May, 2016. I spent the night before and after in Moreton-in-Marsh and just walked to the station. There were 2 small vans on my tour. Unlike me, most of the people that day were day trippers from somewhere else.
I loved that tour. This is the link: Secret Cottage.
Thanks everyone-I will check out the secret cottage tour, it sounds nice. I am ok with a small group, too. cheers!
You can take a short train ride from Oxford to Moreton-In-Marsh and be picked up by this company: Go Cotswolds.
We did this tour last spring and it was great.
You have probably seen me post about this tour before, if you have been reading the Forum for awhile.

Travel is in a Mercedes mini-bus, small group only about 12 people.
But sometimes only 5 or 6 people sign up for the day you are going, so you may have a really small group.
This tour goes to:
Chipping Campden
Broadway Tower
Stow-On-The-Wold
Snowshill
The Rollright Stones (smaller version of Stonehenge)
Bourton-On-The-Water

Tom is the owner and operator.
He reminded us of a young Rick Steves.
This tour received glowing reviews on Trip Advisor and has their seal of excellence.
The tours operate on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Use this page to book ahead of time:https://www.gocotswolds.co.uk/product/cotswolds-day-tour/
Cost: £40 for adults and £30 per children.
I would not spend $468 for a private tour; it's just not worth it.
Tom gives you time to stop and walk around each village.
He gives you a walking map, with lunch spots and tea rooms marked on them.
While on the tour bus, he gives historical details and information about the places you are passing or visiting.
I hope you have a great time in the Cotswolds!
Another happy GoCotswolds customer here.
Ferrin, do read again your thread you posted last fall.
Excellent advice given here:

The Cotswold tours advice is here, and this may be the thread you were thinking of when you said someone had recommended a place, but you couldn't find the post.
Thanks Rebecca-that was it. Thanks for all the recommendations! :)
You're welcome!
Have a great trip!
