I may not be using the correct term - we are looking for recommendations for hotels not on the town's market street - perhaps just a bit (not too far) out of town? Preferences would be nice views, a bit of land on which to wander and breakfast available. We'll have a car when needed. Thank you
Bring up Google maps with the search term - Cotswolds Lodging and click the eyeglass itcon to search . Youll get highlighted icons for places onthe map . Hopefully this link will illustrate this - https://www.google.com/maps/search/cotswolds+lodging/@51.9085332,-1.7835344,12.25z
which end of the Cotswolds area - down by Bath or up by Stratford upon Avon and Chipping Campden? Towards the Oxford way or west towards Cheltenham?
How far is too far out of town?
Consider ‘The Slaughters Country Inn’ at Lower Slaughter and ‘Lord’s of the Manor Hotel’ at Upper Slaughter.
We will be staying one night at The Shaven Crown at Shipton-under-Wychwood and two nights at the Popfoster Barn - a 5-minute drive from Chipping Campden at Weston Subedge. Both of them have great reviews on Booking.com. Since we will have a rental car during this trip, it’s an opportunity for us to stay outside the center of the main towns as you mentioned.
The first one is 700 years old, and the second one - well, how often do we get the chance to sleep in a repurposed barn? : )
There are lots of these hotels in the Cotswolds. Do you have a budget in mind? The best ones are not cheap but a country house hotel (search for this and you’ll see the type of places that come up) can be wonderful experience.

make sure you visit the Fleece Inn at Bretforton just 3 miles from Weston Sub Edge and also the Tythe Barn at Middle Littleton 6 miles away
However I would give the maximum security prison at Long Lartin a miss! (4 miles) although you will probably see the security lighting at night
To answer Nigel's question and to clarify - we are thinking about Broadway, Chipping Campden or Stow-on-the-Wold. And I should have said High Street, not Market Street - my apologies!
@rogerbrown, thank you for those recommendations! I booked a dinner at the Fleece Inn restaurant. The ambiance looks perfect. We have our first dinner in Chipping Campden.
The Fish near Broadway has been recommended to me. It’s going to be the best part of £300 a night as a minimum and lots of dates are fully booked even as far ahead as September, so clearly people find the cost to represent decent value.
Thanks for the added details.
In that case I might suggest Lords of the Manor in the countryside southwest of Stow on the Wold.
Ticks the boxes you have of out of town, beautiful views, plenty of land and countryside for wandering and stupendous breakfast. https://www.lordsofthemanor.com/
You'll need deep pockets though. I didn't see your budget.
My parents used to live just a mile or so from there so I know the neighbourhood but I never visited the hotel.
