Cotswolds

We will be in London this August and would like to visit the Cotswolds. Best way to get there?
Can it be done in a day?
Thanks

You don't need to go so far to Ye Olde England. Look at www.nationaltrust.org.uk online. Look for London, pull down Metropolitan London that will show all the places you can visit. There are many historic sites just a boat ride or underground ride away from London. The Cotswolds will feel like an invasion in August. Autumn or Spring is a better time to visit there.

It's possible, but it would be a long day, and an expensive one probably. I've never taken a Rabbie's tour, but I've seen them recommended on this forum. Looks like you would be paying close to 120 GBP each in August.

Doing it yourself by train from Paddington Station to Moreton in Marsh, round trip tickets would be 100 GBP for two people on a random day in July--August schedules aren't up yet. It takes about 90 minutes each way. Then you need to get yourself from MIM to other towns by whatever means you can--taxi or bus.

There are minivan tours departing from Morton-In-Marsh early in the mornings, but you'd have to get up pretty early in the morning in London to get there. Hours before breakfast, and hurry to the train station. The train must first go through Oxford and then on to Morton, so it's not as though the Cotswolds are on the doorstep of London.

A better option would be to go with Rabbies Tours, as someone else just mentioned, leaving from Victoria Coach Station in London.

Another option is to go with the London Walks Company, leaving from London with a guide.

Yet another option is Evan Evans Tours, out of London.

A quick Google search for these will give you the websites so you see if any of these suit you.

Yet another option would be to leave London, spend the night in Moreton, catch a minibus tour the next morning early from there.

I highly recommend: Go Cotswolds, owned and run by a family who live in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
My husband and I have been on several of their tours. Excellent! The tour makes several stops with time for you to explore each village on foot. There are 2 different tour routes. I've been on both and prefer the first one listed here. I can make recommendations in each village for lunch or coffee or tea plus cake break mid-afternoon, if you wish.
