Cotswolds

We are staying in the Malmesbury area. I would appreciate any recommendations for a lovely dinner near us, as well as, lunch in a gastro pub in the Cotswolds as we plan to circle the area by car.

I've never actually been but whenever I've driven past I've always thought the Hare and Hounds between Tetbury and Westonbirt (both worth a visit) looks nice. It's about 10-15minutes from Malmesbury.

We loved The Plough Inn, in Kelmscott.

I would not have recommended it except you note that you have a car, so… it isn’t a crazy drive for you. If you are headed to Cirencester and Bibury, it is just a bit further east.

It is on the “fancy” side of pubs, but completely adorable, and the food is REALLY good. And you did say “gastro pub.” I would think this counts. :-)

We were there before Christmas (before? the holidays are so frantic) and had a wonderful pub lunch. (Pretty sure they also do dinner.) I had a chicken and leek pie and I think my husband had roast pork belly… and the desserts were fantastic.

The building itself is 17th century. So freaking cute. Highly recommended if you are headed that way.
