Cost of hotel in london

After looking for many hours I have made reservations at a hotel in central London. 208.5 pounds per night. My mother in her 80's is traveling with me, so I needed something close to tube , safe area, and as it's her first trip to London wanted fairly nice place to stay. Have till tomorrow I can cancel. As we are staying 14 nights it adds up to quiet a bit. Am I nuts for choosing one at that price, also it got very good reviews! You can practically throw a rock and hit British museum so close, and 150 feet from Russell Square tube, which if I looked correctly think we can get a tube ride from heathrow without changing trains. Also a mile from eurostar station , and we are leaving very early for day trip to Paris, and thought so close we can take taxi over and not have to be there as early if tour picked us up.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you can afford it and are happy with your choice, then there is no reason to fret. If the price tag is bothering you, the only other thing you could consider is renting a flat - in general, flat rentals are less than hotels. However, they don't come with a concierge, daily maid service, or a staff! Given that this is your mother's first trip to London, personally, I think "splurging" on a nice hotel that is centrally located is probably money well spent!
Given that you will be in London for a couple of weeks, you may tire of having to go out to dinner every night - fortunately, London has a tremendous variety of food halls, markets and take out restaurants so "in room" picnics are always an option!!!

Sharon, might be helpful to read this thread from a couple of days ago:

For that length of stay though, I would consider renting an apartment. Less $ than a hotel, more room, and a washer/dryer which is very convenient for a 2 wk stay.
