Considering taking a Rabbies Tour

We are considering taking a Rabbies Tour of Cornwall and Devon.

The tours seem don't include lodgings, but the company will book a BnB or Hotel for you. You pay the lodging directly.

The tour is a bus tour and includes some specific visits like Stonehenge, but apparently leaves much of the sighting up to the individual.

The prices are still reasonable and it goes to many of the places that we wish to visit.

Still, looking for any experiences and opinions on the tour as well as tip.
We like BnBs as well as small hotels, recommendations on that choice as well.

I am interested in learning more about a Rabbies tour too.

I’ve only taken a couple of day tours with Rabbies, but I have been researching the multiday tours as I plan to take a couple next year.

The reviews for Rabbies are generally very good. One negative complaint I have seen a few times is with the location of the accommodations that they book. I have seen a few comments about the lodging being outside of the city center and away from restaurants. Because of these comments, I have booked my own hotel for the 3-day Ireland tour I am taking next year. So, you might want to consider booking the accommodations yourself. I do think the earlier you book, they can probably get you better accommodations.

The thing I like about Rabbies is that when you are off the bus, most of the time is your own. You are own you own for meals, so no group dinners.

I have found them to be well organized at the departure location and very responsive the few times I have emailed them questions. I like the small size, with a max of 15 or 16 people. There were always plenty of opportunities for bathroom breaks and snacks/meals.

I would not hesitate to book a tour with them. Good luck deciding. And if you do take the tour, I’d love to hear about it. They really have a lot of good options.

I have taken 6 different Rabbies tours, in Scotland and England. I did the Cornwall and Devon tour last June and enjoyed in immensely. Of my 6 tours, 4 of the driver guides were excellent and the other 2 were good, just not as great as the others. I have always had Rabbies book my bnb en-suite and have never been far out of the center of towns and could always easily get to a restaurant. The guides are very well informed on history and nature of the area and have all been personable and organized. I recommend Rabbies to my friends and family and hope to use them again in the future. Cornwall and Devon specifically was just wonderful with Tintagel being a favorite for me though the scenery was incredible just about everywhere.

For your two nights in Exeter and 2 nights in Falmouth I would just let Rabbies book your lodgings. I can't think of any B and B's in reach of the centre of Exeter (where the tour will drop you) whereas if Rabbies book you a B and B on the edge of the city they will take you there.

Yes there is a good choice in Falmouth- although again some of the best are out at Gyllvangase Beach- a little bit too far out of the centre so I'd just let Rabbies sort it out and take you there.

I'm a big fan of Rabbies so I'm glad you're choosing to travel with them. It's going to be a big difference from your experience with Gate 1.

If you decide to book your own accommodations.....this is from Rabbies website:

I think I’d prefer to book my own accommodation – what do I need to know?

Please just make sure your chosen accommodation is located within the specified overnight location. If it’s relatively central (~2km from the town centre), your driver-guide will be able to drop you off and collect you each day. If you’re unsure about the location or where you need to book, please check with us first.

You should let us know the name and address of your accommodation provider(s) at the time of booking – or as soon as possible after booking by contacting [email protected].

Based on advice from this group, we took a couple of Rabbies day tours in Scotland last year and they were wonderful. Prompt, priced right and we would definitely use them again.
