Conrad vs. Waldorf

Hello everyone.....I haven't been on the site in quite awhile and am happy to see the blogs looking like they did in 2013!

DH and I planned to go to London last or this year, but due to other "life" events, were unable to....we are now planning to go sometime in 2016.

Through work travel, we have enough Hilton honor points to stay at either of the two hotels above and would like your advice. We will be in London approximately two weeks and plan to use it as our "base," taking day trips as well as seeing the sights of London itself. Having Diamond status will allow free internet in our room as well as breakfast each day at either property. Although the internet is more important than the breakfast, both are nice perks. Based on everything I've already read on here, we will NOT be renting a car. We used the Metro quite easily when we were in Paris and feel we should have no problem getting around via the tubes in London.

We can fly non-stop to/from Gatwick (BIG plus for us). I see that the Gatwick Express goes to Victoria Station, which is closer to the Conrad, but have a friend who has stayed at the Waldorf and enjoyed it as well.

Your comments would be greatly appreciated.....other than being restricted to a Hilton property, we are open to either option.

I will certainly be back later for your expertise and advice on our itinerary, but first we want to pin down the hotel.

Thanks so much!

Conrad St James definitely, for the following reasons ...
* Close to Victoria Station for Gatwick Express
* Right by St James's Park Tube - District and Circle Line (goes to Tower of London)
* Walking distance to Westminster Abbey, Churchill War Rooms, Houses of Parliament & Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, St James's Park, Green Park.
* Highly rated on Tripadvisor - #47 in London.

Definitely the Conrad, higher online reviews, next to a Tube, nicer part of town and quieter immediately outside the hotel, great location. You should hear Big Ben from there... the world's best alarm clock!
