Confused about rail strikes...

My brother and I are traveling on Chiltern and East Midlands Railway not on the total strike day but in the days surrounding the strike. Chiltern and EMR both announced reduced service on the days we're traveling but it's not clear from their websites or apps which trains are affected, or what to do if your specifically booked train is affected. Can you take another train between the same points on the same day, if so?

Probably both companies don't know which trains will be cancelled.

That will or should be announced by 10pm the previous night on the journey check pages on their respective websites.

If your train is cancelled just take the next train.

For Chiltern their journey planner is up to date for their planned services on each day next week.

EMT are planning to run a full service on each non strike day.
