Welcoming Reminder / Confirmation Pre-Trip E-Mail From Premier Inn (edited).

EDIT. I think my original title and discussion was confusing. I knew what I was saying but I am thinking that it was not clear to readers.

I am referring to a pre-trip email that I received yesterday confirming my visit in a week and giving me reminder and helpful information.

This morning, I received a very nice Confirmation E-Mail from Premier Inn.

It came as a complete surprise. Was not expecting it. It was very professional and friendly.

I love receiving a confirmation email from a hotel and if I don't I usually send them one the day before I arrive.

Probably anyone who has stayed at PI knows what I received but it includes a phone number and email if I have further questions. Really like the email. Probably will not call unless I really have to.

This makes me feel really good about PI. I have heard so much about PI from forum and have no idea what to expect.

That's pretty standard practice, the computer automatically generates the e-mails,

I also like receiving these because it’s generally difficult to find direct contact info for individual Premier Inns.

As isn31c said, confirmation emails from booked accommodations are pretty common these days. We're currently traveling (domestically) and all 9 of our accommodations, whether booked directly or via booking.com, have provided confirmation emails with booking details such as type of room, cost (including tax), phones #s, available amenities, etc. I keep all of them in a trip's email folder for quick access should there be an issue at check-in/check-out.

I can't think of any global chain that doesn't do this. I save the email link in both my travel app and my trip logistics Doc and the email goes into a Travel folder as well. I also always join a chain's loyalty program before booking. This adds another another location where my reservation information is stored.

I have had positives stays with PI. Currently have them book for Munich in December.

For some reason, I was not expecting a confirmation email. Never even thought about it.

I have heard so much about PI but have never stayed and I was impressed with the confirmation email.

I did not receive one when I stayed at Hotel 63 for my last visit. I stayed at a very large chain in Japan and did not receive one. Did not get one for my Paris Hotel in May. And I have stayed at an Ibis twice. I do not believe I got a confirmation e-mail either time.

Mostly I stay at 3 star independent / boutique hotels and usually do not get a confirmation email.

But like some have said, PI is a global international chain.

Is PI a public company on a stock exchange?

Is PI a public company on a stock exchange?

They’re part of the giant Whitbread group, which originally grew from a brewing company. Whitbread are on the London Stock Exchange and part of the FTSE 100 index of leading stocks.

I always get a confirmation email with detailed hotel contact information as well as pre trip reminders from Booking.com, which I believe you often use for hotel reservations. What they send may not look exactly like what you recieved from the Premier Inn, but they do send quite a lot of detail. Perhaps the notifications are turned off on your Booking account.

I can't think of any global chain that doesn't do this.

I can't think of any hotel, global chain or not, that doesn't do this. I even get confirmation emails from little mom-and-pop B&Bs. I don't think I've ever not received a confirmation from a hotel, pension, hostel or apartment. You probably did receive confirmation emails, but didn't recognize them for what they were.

well I am going to be more aware about receiving confirmation emails before my trips from now on. I am talking about hotels.

I do not travel that much but from now on,. I am going to see if I get a confirmation email from the hotel just before my trip.

Bostonphil, when you placed your reservation a few weeks back, didn't you receive an email confirming your reservation?

And the email which you speak of here is an additional email, more or less welcoming you for your imminent stay? Or, maybe I misunderstand.

I don't think I always receive a (2nd) confirming email (within the week/day) before I arrive. The reservation and it's confirmation email may have been 6 months before.

Yes, I received a confirmation email immediately after my booking.

But the one that I am referring to is an additional one that I received yesterday which says "See You in a Week" and "Here's Some Handy Info"

This welcome is purple and in large letters. I tried to copy it so as to paste but it did not copy well.

I was pleasantly surprised by this second one a week before my trip.

I've never stayed at a Premier Inn, but in my general experience, beyond the initial booking confirmation, I'll receive a booking reminder roughly a week out. This includes offers for room upgrades or add-ons, as well as a reminder that it's the time to cancel if necessary. Then, three days to the day before arrival, the email shifts to logistics, prompting me to complete digital check-in and receive a digital key.

OK

Given the response from CanAmCherie, I realize that perhaps my post is misunderstood.

I always get a confirmation email right after booking any hotel and I did so with Premier Inn.

But what I have been referring to in my post is the one that I got yesterday saying "see you in a week".

it was a reminder / confirmation of my stay in a week.

And then the confirmation / reminder gave me a lot of helpful and additional information.

I hope that if my post was misunderstood, I cleared up any confusion.

Maybe I should edit the title of this post to say something like "Welcoming Reminder of Stay from Premier Inn.

Hi VAP

I think it is possible that the title of my discussion confused people.

I have tried to explain what I was trying to say in the post ahead of your response.

I do not always get a reminder from the hotel as I get closer to my trip. Usually I do but not always and I have never received two as my trip gets closer.

There have been a few instances where i emailed the hotel before leaving for my trip because I did not get a pre-trip confirmation.

I knew what I was saying when I posted but maybe it was not clear to others.

They're nice to get, but they are still automated emails from the hotel. You'll get those a lot when you book rooms with places like Airbnb, Premier Inn, and other chain hotels. I got quite a few from the Thon hotels when I was staying in Norway, and Premier Inns send out a lot of them, too. I have some coming in for my December Christmas Markets trip right now.

Hi Mardee

They may be automated but they are nice to receive. At least someone or something knows that I am coming.

I have read on this forum where some members show up at their lodging and there is no reservation even though they had made one. And at least some of those members say that they have made their reservation through booking.com.

I often think that the reminder e-mails are also gentle attempts to up-sell- to add breakfast or dinner for instance, or (with Best Western, for example) to get an upgraded room. Also with some independent places (and Best Western) to get you to do Advance Check In.

You could argue that Advance Check In is a way for you to confirm to the hotel that you plan to arrive, especially if expecting to arrive very late.

Earlier this year I had a booking with a mom and pop place in Carlisle. Advance Check in 48 hours earlier let them plan their day better.

Not sure why your last post mentioned booking.com if you have a reservation with a PI. They never list with 3rd party booking sites. These followup emails are pretty commonplace in the last few years. There's nothing personal; they are triggered and sent by the computer booking system at a predetermined date in advance of arrival. Likely cuts down on staff time required to answer phone calls or emails by future guests asking for reconfirmation of their stay. Or, as above, as a way of upselling or upgrading. We've gotten similar emails from every hotel we'll be staying at on our upcoming trip. At least you know that they know you're coming.

That’s good to hear that you have had a second confirmation, automated or not!
It’s always reassuring to know that your reservation is set in stone and your hotel is indeed expecting you.
I like it too when somewhere I have reserved sends me a reminder a few days beforehand.
Now you can relax and look forward to your trip!

I mentioned booking.com because I usually book through them. However some members on this forum have said that they had reservation through booking.com and there was no reservation when they showed up at the hotel.

For PI Victoria, I had to book direct. No choice. Not on booking.com

I was responding to something that Mardee had posted.

Even if the welcome pre-stay is automated, I like the feeling that the hotel knows that I am coming.
