Circle Access/Stonehenge

We have reservations for stone circle access the only date in January 2018. Any idea of cost and availability for a taxi? We have to be there around 7:30 I think, so it is not possible to take public transportation. Does the taxi have to wait, or can we arrange for later pick up if we want to take our time?

I know most say skip Stonehenge, but my husband really wants to do this. We will arrive in Salisbury most likely by train the day before and see the Cathedral also. If we have to rent a car to go to the site, we will wander around the area maybe even venturing to Bath. We manage to find interest in much that others find boring, so I don't think we will be wasting our time.

If you are staying at a hotel in Salisbury, ask at the front desk about hiring a taxi for the next morning to go out to Stonehenge. Your hotel will have someone they suggest, I should think.

The Stonehenge Museum will be closed when you get out there early in the morning. You will be able to see the stones, but not immediately go into the museum. I'd wait for the museum to open and then do it. Worth the wait.

You can take the Stonehenge Bus back to the center of town in Salisbury. No need to ask your taxi to wait for transportation back to town--unless you only want a quick look at the stones, no museum, and then back to town.

The museum is good, and there is a cafe with good food, coffee and tea there. We ate pasties there which were very good. Also a gift shop where you can purchase sweatshirts, ball caps and coffee mugs with "Stonehenge" printed on them. Good souvenir or gift for someone back home.
