Churchill War Rooms

Taking my 2 teenage grandsons to London in June and visiting the Churchill War Rooms. Both are obviously students, but it says online that students will need to provide a valid student card on entry to get the discount. Anyone have experience with this? We don't have "valid student cards" where we live in the states.

The ISIC card, available to students of 98 countries, including the USA.

Presumably your grandsons are over 15 and so can’t get a child’s ticket?

Do they have any Id for their school or college? I’d email the war rooms telling them what Id, if any, they have and would it be acceptable? If not what would work - a letter from the head of their school? If they’re under 18, would proof of age be acceptable in itself?

Student cards are much for university students than teenagers and are issued to most Uk students when they arrive.

Assuming they're at school, over 15, but not at university, do they have school ID cards? Otherwise it may not be obvious that they're students. If not, the ISIC card (suggested above) would be the best option, and might come in handy during other parts of the trip.

My recollection was that the ISIC card was not easily obtained in the U.S. That said, my kids (attending U.S. colleges) were able to show the school ID for the institution they were attending.

I am also planning a trip to England. I have actually been shocked at how fast the museums/sites that I've contacted in London (and York) have responded to my email inquiries. I'd contact the ticket office if you are concerned.
