Christmas Traditions

For those who are not aware, every year at 3 pm on Christmas Day, the Queen broadcasts to the nation (this should also be in the Scotland, Wales and (non-existent Northern) Ireland forums).

Anyway, a typical British Christmas Day often entails eating the Christmas meal and doing the washing-up, all before settling down to watch the Queen on TV; and before falling asleep on the sofa in an alcohol-induced stupor.

Some might view it as archaic and rather dated in these here modern times. Still, a 95-year old attracted the highest TV audience of the day.

Thank you for the link to the complete broadcast. The other ones I've seen omit the opening and closing, which I always find most interesting!

The National Anthem was played by the Central Band of the Royal British Legion in their centenary year.

The closing carol, 'O Little Town of Bethlehem', was performed by the Singology Choir.

I loved the aerial camera work for the National Anthem. The band stood on the stairs at the east entrance to the East Terrace Garden, which I see was open to the public during part of the summer of 2020. The Private Apartments open onto this garden.
