Christmas in London and looking for hotels with discounts booking 2 rooms

New to this forum. An expat friend of mine mentioned some hotels offer discounts when booking multiple rooms. I have tried searching but may not be using correct terminology. Does anyone have advice on how I find such offers? TIA

Welcome to the forum. I’ve never encountered discounts for booking 2 rooms from any hotel. I think you would be good to focus on your budget, location you prefer and number of people per room which is typical for the UK and Europe. Many people here recommend the budget friendly Premier Inn chain in the UK. A favorite booking site for filtering for price, rooms and number of people is booking.com. I personally think that looking for a discount in the UK for booking 2 rooms will be time not well spent. Are you looking for rooms in December 2022?

EDIT: we have experienced reductions of rates for multiple rooms when booking 10 or more rooms but never just 2 rooms.

As an ex-pat myself, I have not heard of hotels giving discounts for just booking two rooms together. Generally, chains will give discounts for loyalty, seniors and company/organization discounts - just like hotels do in the US. Keep in mind, the vast majority of hotels in England will only have a 2-adult occupancy - meaning one double bed or two twins (singles). The Marriot County Hall London does have "family" rooms which essentially have two double beds for 4 people occupancy. It's in a great location but is very expensive! Alternatively, try the Premier chain hotels. The Premier Inn County Hall hotel is in a great location by the London Eye. Do not book a Premier Hub hotel. My sister tells me the rooms are way too small even by European standards. You will need to book on the Premier Hotel website.

Two rooms are so commonly booked that they rarely are discounted. I have seen instances when the second room for children was half price but that was during special promotion motions. I don't think hotels in London run those sorts of promotions. A few years ago, we needed three rooms at the Chesterfield Mayfair and a I think they offered us a slight discount. If it is in budget, you might want to contact them but not if it is for this Christmas because they are sold out. I think Accor hotels may offer the second room for children at a discount and there are some Accor properties in London.

I haven’t heard of discounts for 2 rooms. Yes for a larger group. Unlikely at Christmas. Is your booking for Christmas 2023? If for 2022, your choice is likely to be limited and expensive. Several Premier Inns have no availability for this year in central locations.

You could try in February which must be the most off season month but certainly not over Christmas
Some hotels are having trouble to find staff to service all their rooms

We often book two rooms together and have never received any discount. I think a group discount would apply to a block of rooms (like 10 or more for a wedding party), but not for only 2 rooms. And not during peak season, especially Christmas.

I actually did see this option last week on some Hilton properties in London. It didn’t apply in our case so I didn’t spend much time investigating, but it was an option when you clicked in to explore all of their many, many rate options. We just booked our Christmas 2022 hotel this week, so don’t despair!

Thanks Peggy. We did go w a Hilton property and got decent rate considering the lateness of our trip at a busy time of year. Enjoy your trip!
