I am arriving at Gatwick on Christmas morning and can't seem to get a straight answer whether the Gatwick Express will be in service to Victoria Station on that day. Does anyone know? I tried emailing their website & got back a reply to check closer to the date. I'd rather know now, if possible. Thanks for your help!
The best is to check closer to the date.
Virtually no public transport operates on Christmas Day, no Underground, no trams, no river boats, virtually no buses, although in previous years there have been a very few National Express coaches between Heathrow and Victoria Coach Station, and I have never heard of similar arrangements for Gatwick, and virtually no trains.
If by some miracle the Gatwick Express were to run it would most likely be a radically reduced schedule and probably over a diversionary route.
If the company and unions haven't publicised that it will operate nobody else will know first.
I'd plan on a (very expensive with Christmas rates) taxi or private hire (car service).
If you decide to rent a car, you will need to check carefully as I would expect all car hire desks to closed.
it didn't run in 2014 and 2015
there's nothing strangers on an intenet forum can add to the official response - you'll just have to wait to find out
never a good idea to travel on Christmas Day
Either change your flight date or get a very expensive taxi. There has in the past few years been a limited bus service to Heathrow, but no other airports.
The should be no expectation that there will be any train from Gatwick on Christmas Day.
Last year there was a coach running every two hours to Oxford if that is any use to you. Normal fare.
