I will be staying in Chiwick during my London stay in September. I looked at the Southwestern Railway and it appears that I can catch a train to Hampton Court from Chiswick without having to travel to central London first. Has anyone had experince catching trains from stations other than the "big" ones in central London?
Stayed in Chiswick Premier Inn 2021. 20 minute stroll to the Turnham Green Station. From there you could take a District Line train to Richmond and take a 40 minute bus ride to Hampton Court Palace.
I do not have a specific concern about traveling to Waterloo station. I am thinking that I may save some time by traveling from Chiswick. Thank you all for your comments on this topic.
You won't really save much time (but will save money) by not going to Waterloo, as you would still have to go most of the way in, and change instead at Clapham Junction- in terms of train movements the busiest station in the Country.
Chiswick, like all on the 'Hounslow loop' is a well used station.
In one direction you could take the bus 190 to Richmond then the boat to Hampton Court along the Thames.
