How long is the drive from Chipping Campden to York? What is the best route?
Also, any restaurant recommendations in York?
TIA!

According to Google Maps it’s 2hr 50min without heavy traffic. If you download the Google Maps app it will show you routes.
What do you mean by best? The quickest is by taking the A46, M69, M1 then the A1 and A64.
If you want a slower, more scenic route, go via the Peak District - Bakewell (try a Bakewell pudding), Buxton (spa town), Edale (good walking), Holmfirth (Last of the Summer Wine land) then back to the M1 etc.
I ate at Wagamama the last time I was in York which might not be what you are seeking - it’s a chain of Asian, mainly Japanese cuisine. Afternoon tea at Betty’s - you probably need to book. For something far less ostentatious, have lunch at the charity cafe in The Spurriergate Centre, housed in a former church.
I also like the Bar Convent on Blossom Street. It doesn't feasture in the guide books but is popular with locals and those 'in the know'.

@jennifer thank you very much. I will look into these alternative towns. Maybe a stop at Bakewell. Any recommendations on where to have a lunch and a pudding in Bakewell? Thanks!
