Chestertons Polo in the Park?

Any thoughts about Chesterons Polo in the Park? My 16 yo daughter thought it looked like a fun day. We’ve got a week in London so I think my family would like a day away from the typical tourist spots. (It’s my husband, 22 yo daughter, her boyfriend, 18 yo son, and the 16yo). What’s the dress code if we get general admission tickets? The website only talks about a dress code for the VIP area but do most people dress up?

What about tours of Wimbledon Stadium? Are they worth it?

Although I’ve never been, I think people would dress up for this. It’s quite a posh event. Have a look at their Instagram to see.

Tours of Wimbledon are very worthwhile if you’re into tennis. I really enjoyed it.

As a Brit, I had never heard of that polo event and having Googled it, I wouldn’t dream of going. I have a kneejerk reaction that assumes it will be full of braying toffs and people who are trying to be fancy. Just one look at the photos on the website and I think: nah, no thanks.

But then I’m common as muck.

Need a day out from London?

Couple of thoughts:

1.) Yes, if anyone enjoys tennis, then a tour of Wimbledon is worth it.

2.) Does anyone in the family watch Ted Lasso?
If yes then head to Richmond. My hidden gem of a pub there is the Angel and the Crown. Nearby Richmond Park is a pleasant meander. Do lunch at the White Cross pub and then stroll to the Ham House and gardens. From there walk along the Thames River path to Rotary Gardens. Walk up the path and make your way to Teddington Cheese. Small shop. Great cheeses. Next door to the proper The Victoria Inn pub.

3.) Bletchley Park is worth a visit. Home to the WW2 codebreakers. https://bletchleypark.org.uk/
I spent over 4 hours there.

4.) The Hampstead Heath is nice to meander about. If lucky you might find a rugby match to watch. https://www.hampsteadrugbyclub.co.uk/

5.) Lastly, I’d consider visiting the Shoreditch neighborhood to see the wall murals. You can sign up for a tour or meander on your own.

Think you’d like lunch at The Box Cars or from a stall in Spitalfields Market.

Brick Lane is close by Spitalfields. Always interesting.
