Cheesy destination?

I'm working on the itinerary for a trip next June for my wife and I. While we're staying at Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds, I'm thinking about a day trip to Bath in the morning and Cheddar in the afternoon. I'm not going to Cheddar specifically for the cheese, although I'm sure it will be interesting, but to see the caves and canyon. Has anyone else been? I usually put some flexibility in our schedule, and on this trip, I figure if we really like Bath a lot, we could spend the whole day there and save Cheddar for another day. Also, if you have any experience with Cheddar eateries, positive or negative, I'd appreciate your sharing them.

I will tell you I love Bath so my opinion is colored...but I'd encourage you to allow yourselves more than a morning in Bath. You will need that amount of time just for the Roman Baths if that is of interest to you.

The Cheddar gorge has a lot of feeling of a tourist trap - huge ads, lots of traffic, etc. That may be fine with you, just be prepared.

Walking on the National Trust side of the gorge (northern) is a quite different experience from the southern 'Longleat' side.

Is it officially licensed Wookie cheese? With a picture of Chewbacca?

Originally, I was just making a bad pun with the title of this topic, but the more I look, the more it becomes prophetic. After posting, I did a Google image search, and the pictures remind me of the "See Rock City" attraction on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tenn. I like to cut the cheese as much as anyone else, but I probably won't be doing it next summer in Cheddar.
