Chedworth ideas

After our London Days 4/17-4/20; we are going to pick up car from Heathrow and try to go to Windsor (this is Easter so need to see what that effects) after Windsor we are going to drive to Stonehenge and then spend the night in Salisbury and Sarum College, in morning will visit cathedral and make our way to Bath to see a few sights then off to an Airbnb in Chedworth, for next 3 nights. We are going to do day drives around the area those days, one of which would be a day to Oxford. What other drives/attractions/restaurants/markets within 1-2 hours of Chedworth would y'all recommend? After our nights in Chedworth we will drive to Grantham for 2 nights to stay at Harlaxton. Thinking of maybe Stratford on Avon or hauling to York on our way to Grantham (I know it is way past Grantham...lol, not sure if it is worth it) We will drive to Cambridge last day and then drop off car and spend night at STN for flight out to Italy. Any advice from would be very appreciated.

You could do Stratford upon Avon as a day out from Chedworth...

Chedworth to Harlaxton is going to take about 2.5 hours depending on traffic. Continuing to York from Harlaxton is going to take another 2- 2.5 hours to drive depending on traffic PLUS time to park and get into York. Parking in York is horrendous as well as expensive and it is advisable to use park and ride which could well add at least another 30 minutes to the trip. That is going to extend the day by at least 4.5-5 hours. So you will have so little time in York - it isn't really worth it.

There are lots of other places you could have a stop - Leamington Spa is an attractive town with a splendid church and Jepson Gardens in the centre of the town are a lovely place to drop out. Alternatively there is Kennilworth with its impressive ruined Castle where Robert Dudley unsuccessfully wooed Elizabeth I. There is also Warwick but that is a lot busier.

Quite close to Chedworth is Cirencester, a charming old market town. Also Westonbirt Arboretum.

Chedworth Roman Villa is definitely worth a visit. Ruins of a very grand home with some impressive mosaics.
