Checking bags from Easyjet to Delta in Edinburgh

Flight on Easyjet from Belfast arrives(no customs or immigration for US citizen) at 9:20 am in Edinburgh. I have to get our checked bags to the Delta counter for a 12:05 pm departure. Delta claims the minimum check in time is 1 hour. Will this work? Is it the same terminal? Never been there before. Thanks in advance.

It will take you five to ten minutes to get from arrivals to check in - although you will have to wait for the bags.

As it's Delta it's presumably long-haul - and the recommended time is 3 hours before. So even if on time you will still be less than that.

There's no real time issue getting through Edinburgh - it's a growing airport but it's still not far from one part to another. But I would be more comfortable with an earlier flight.

No problem as long as the Easy Jet flight arrives on time. You should checkin with Delta online the night before and just use the bag drop line.

Any flight can be delayed with any airline for a variety of reasons. We flew from London to Bordeaux on Easy Jet last year and our flight departed 3 hours late, which meant we arrived at 10:00 p.m. instead of 7:00 p.m. The car rental office was closed by then. A friend who lives in France tried repeatedly to contact the rental office and could never get through. While annoying and it cost us extra money for taking a taxi to our hotel and then back to the airport for our car in the morning, we did not miss a flight home. Everything could go smoothly for you, or not. I’m risk averse and would be very uncomfortable doing what you are planning. Could you take a flight to Edinburgh the night before and spend the night close to the airport?

What you propose looks to require near perfection of all parts to have a successful execution.

I would be inclined to fly the night before and avoid the stress of 'will we make it?'

easyjet looks to have flights that arrive around 6:30, 7:00 and 9:30 PM

In this type of situation, our standing rule is to arrive at the departure airport the night before. We had one near miss in travels over the years to make this a hard fast rule. Your flight timing is way too close.

It's Belfast International airport you want, rather than Belfast City.
The problem is there is no earlier flight, at least on EasyJet.
To me It's worth taking the late flight the previous night then an Edinburgh Airport hotel.
Or can't you change your Delta flight to fly from Dublin instead, then take the 24/7 translink or aircoach (different companies) coach from Belfast to Dublin.
Significantly safer. But may not be cost efficient.
I am assuming that Delta or a code share partner don't fly out of Belfast transatlantic.

Just spoke with Delta. Confirmed with the agent that the cutoff time for checked bags is 1 hour before the flight. If we miss the flight, there are 4 flights the next day from Edinburgh. First 3 with 2 connections and the last one (same flight# as ours), 1 connection. I think we will give it a shot so as not to shorten the stay in Belfast from 3 days. This way, if the flight is missed, we will have another day in Edinburgh. As of now, the flight # that we're on now for the following day is wide open. There is no extra charge from Delta since we are using SkyMiles. Have flown non rev or standby before and only 2 things can happen. You either make it or you don't. Minimal downside on this one. But will keep watching it.

Well that is a salient detail that was omitted from the original query.

Most folks asking this type of question are not in a 'no lo$$' situation.
