Looking for cheap places to eat in South Kensington (London), near Gloucester Rd. tube station, Cromwell Rd. and Queen's Gate.

There are many restaurants on Gloucester Rd as well as along Cromwell Rd (if you turn left at the light from Gloucester Rd instead of right which takes you to Queens Gate.). There is also a Waitrose grocery store in the small mall area by the Tube stop which has a selection of carry out food at reasonable prices. I was in there at 6PM or so one afternoon and there were many commuters on their way home from work stopping in for something for dinner. The restaurants will have menus posted so you can see if they meet your budget.
You can also go to Google Street View and start at the tube station and walk down the street. The Patisserie across from the Tube Station has good pastry, so I am told. I did not eat there but the stuff in the window looked delicious. Not sure of the prices, may be more than you wish to pay.
Search for Pret A Manger in that area. Decent, cheap eats. Fresh. Free wi-fi too!
I echo Pret a Manger...easy, fast, decent and relatively cheap!
There is also a cheap burger place near the Gloucester Rd Tube Station. And I am not talking about Burger King which is coincidentally also close to that tube station. I don't remember the name but it is a chain. It is on Gloucester Rd a few blocks south (maximum) of the stop. I think I ordered at the counter and then a server brought it out to me. It was a very reasonable priced meal.
Thanks Keith! I checked google maps and it seems like that is the one-except I think it is north, not south. I had a very pleasant "al fresco" burger and glass of wine there. And had a nice chat with some of the other customers.
Laurel - This is right in my wheelhouse! There's plenty in S.Kens (and more nearby in Earls Court area). You can check my reviews on TripAdvisor (I'm "nagled" there)....I'd skip the chains and go with unique places....All in SoKens except as noted: Da Spago for Italian (Rocca is OK too...or try Princess Di's favorite, Da Mario's, up by Kens Palace), LaBouche for French (not cheap but not $$$ like you can spend some places), Patara is excellent for Thai (a short walk from the SoKens tube), Goucho Grill is a chain and $$$ but go for a burger, or Thali for Indian. The best pub food in the area is near the Earls Court station -- the Blackbird. Also near there is Bistro Benito...not fancy but has the best veal (I've eaten there about 12 times...say hi to Simon the owner).
You don't ask about breakfast, but I love the local Cafe Paul and Le Pain Quotdien.
And Scoop is the best in the area for gellato!! Enjoy!
I like Pret A Manger for breakfast or sandwiches and they're now easily found all over London. It looks like your neighborhood has a fair selection of Indian restaurants. If this is your hotel location, you'll probably find your evening meal closer to your sightseeing on some evenings.
May not be quite as exotic as other places, and "cheap" is debatable, but there is a very big Whole Foods near South Kensington Station. Very large area for food to go, grocery of course, then a third floor with dine in/take out eating options.
Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions! I'll be sure to follow up on all your ideas!
