I would appreciate if you would share your thoughts regarding my choices for our upcoming trip.
If you were given the option of touring Chatsworth House or Burghley House on a drive going from York to Windsor, which would you choose and why?
Thank you!
No question - Chatsworth is in my view the outstanding stately home in the U.K.
Chatsworth is on the route, Stamford is not. But both properties are spectacular.
Chatsworth , and its stunning gardens are magnificent , I've visited twice , most recently this past October . This film will go far to acquaint you with what you will see , and the long history of the place - https://youtu.be/lF9qKPDg9sA?si=uSexuPVJs-Q783Ls
Ha ha, this post made me laugh because I posted the very same question a few months ago (but asking to compare with Haddon Hall). At any rate, I got a lot of good responses about Chatsworth that might help you out.
FWIW, I chose Chatsworth and will be visiting there on April 8.

Hardwick is worth considering ,close to the M1
Thank you all so much for the input! I wondered if Chatsworth was too "soon" after leaving York as we head to Windsor, but it sounds like it is the one more people prefer. I welcome any other input or suggestions. Thank you again!
