Castle stay in the Cotswolds?

Closer to the Wales border, but Thornbury Castle. The cotswold aren’t too far from there, but most likely further than you’d like.

Other side of Oxford and on the boundaries of the Cotswolds is Thornbury Castle Hotel www.thornburycastle.co.uk/thornbury-castle, a castle dating back to the Tudor period and where King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn stayed during their honeymoon (you can stay in the same room that they slept in, but fortunately not the same bed). I haven't stayed there but we'll be there as a family next month so I can give you my thoughts if you'd like.

Whilst you can be at Bourton-on-the-Water in about an hour from Thornbury Castle I would recommend the quick jaunt across the Severn Bridge and explore Chepstow Castle, Tintern Abbey, Symonds Yat, Ross on Wye and the wider Forest of Dean area, far more interesting and varied than The Cotswolds and a beautiful and ancient part of England and Wales.
