Carlisle to Manchester Airport on a Sunday morning

Is there any practical way to get to the Manchester airport from Carlisle on a Sunday morning, other than by train?

Our Lake District walking holiday will end in Carlisle on Saturday, July 2. On Sunday, our 3 kids (in their 20s) are flying home to NYC from Manchester. The first train from Carlisle doesn't arrive at Manchester airport until 1pm on Sunday, but the flight home departs at 12:45pm.

I was thinking we'd all just go to Manchester on Saturday and spend the night there. But my husband and I are leaving for Edinburgh on Sunday, and Carlisle-to-Edinburgh via Manchester is quite a detour.

We would like to spend our last night together, rather than parting ways on Saturday.

Does it make sense for the kids to take a taxi from Carlisle to MAN on Sunday morning? Or...?

There's a national express coach that leaves Carlisle at 00:35 and gets into Manchester Airport at 04:15, which gives your kids plenty of time for the flight at 12:45.

In their 20s I'm sure they could take an overnight coach followed by a transatlantic flight in their stride, and arrive in NYC bright eyed and bushy tailed. !!

Other than that it would be a pre booked taxi for the 2 ½ to 3 hour journey from Carlisle to Manchester. Of course that will prove costly.

If they're up for the bus get that, otherwise say your goodbyes on Saturday.

I tried to look at buses but there are none either at suitable times
Will you have a car, Carlisle to Manchester Airport will take about 2hrs 30 minutes and then from the airport to Edinburgh about 4 hours or so.
Might be worth looking at private hire companies for Carlisle to Manchester for the sunday morning might work out not much more than train tickets would for the 3 of them

Thank you both for your information. It helps to know all the options. We won't have a car, since we'll be on a week-long walking holiday. We'll weigh the cost of taxi vs. train tickets, and maybe take a family vote. :)
Thanks again, I really appreciate it!!
