Car service from Manchester Airport to Penrith, Cumbria

Are you aware that there is a direct train from the airport to Penrith. It will take a similar time and be way cheaper.

Thanks...yes, we are aware of the train, but for various reasons need a private car.

I've never heard of them, and the name doesn't inspire confidence nor I have even seen them round the area- it sounds very much like a franchise.

I would try either the man taxi company in Penrith, Penrith Taxis (but you would have to call them) or Davies Taxis of Keswick. They are very much the go to taxi company for the area, well known and highly regarded.

The reason for slightly struggling is that there just isn't the demand in the area for a private car service. I guess that whatever demand there is is met by big national companies with bases in Manchester. Sellafield (one of our very big employers) has it's own in house transportation service for instance.

People just drive themselves to the airport- 2 hours from where I am way out west (less from Keswick), or use the thoroughly excellent train service- from Penrith the train has 1st class with meal service and is as fast if not faster than the drive (legally anyway). The train service is so good that many people will drive to Penrith and pick up the train there.
So the limited demand is met by the local taxi companies.

Locally the demand for transport to the airports is for small groups (stag and hen parties going on low cost flights or small clubs). There are plenty of local companies who provide that service by minibuses or even big buses.
