Hi,
I am currently a licensed driver in the USA, state of Wisconsin. What do I need to rent a car in England/Wales? Is an International Drivers License needed.

To the best of my knowledge you do not need an IDP to drive anywhere in the UK.
Agree, our AAA office has told us an IDL is not necessary. However, it's good to have as an extra piece of ID so we have gotten them each time we've rented. As noted on other threads, the UK has age limits on car rental.
The only they will ask to see is your drivers license from Wisconsin and your passport.
Agree with the others. I always reserve my car from the states and specify an automatic. If not specified you'll get a standard and will be shifting on the left. Remember that trunks are smaller on most European cars, so take small suitcases.
